About the journal

Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais, a journal of the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, publishes three times a year the results of advanced research in all fields of the social and human sciences. It favours works with a transdisciplinary approach which contribute to theoretical discussion, epistemological thinking, and critical knowledge about contemporary reality on a global scale. RCCS accepts submissions about all geographical contexts, giving special attention to studies which contribute to a critical knowledge of the Portuguese context and Portuguese-speaking areas, as well as to theoretical and epistemological innovation coming from these areas, and more broadly, from the global South.

The journal publishes mostly thematic issues, guest-edited by renowned researchers from different fields, although it also publishes on average a non-thematic issue per year. All submissions are subjected to double-blind peer review.

Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais is part of the network Eurozine and is indexed in SciELO, Qualis-CAPES (classified as A1 in Sociology), DOAJ, EBSCO, Francis, International Bibliography of the Social Sciences, Latindex, Pascal, Sudoc, Sociological Abstracts, Worldcat and Bielefield Academic Search Engine.
